Auto Shop Services
AB Environmental has been a valued service provider to the Automotive Service and Repair Shop Industry on Long Island and the NYC Boros for over twenty years. Besides collection of your waste oils, anti-freeze and contaminated water, we are also equipped to handle used oil and gasoline filters, oily debris, contaminated soil and sludge, and any other non-hazardous or hazardous waste. We supply and service parts-washing and brake-washing sinks with non-flammable or aqueous solvent solutions. Our solids Vactor trucks can clean out your storm drains, catch basins and any pits or floor troughs. We also specialize in Oil-Water Separator maintenance, which is now a semi-annual regulatory requirement in Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

Liquid Waste Removal
AB Environmental has the experience, knowledge and equipment to properly and efficiently handle all of your regulated liquid waste streams. Our state-of-the-art NYS DEC Permitted Vacuum pump trucks can safely pump out tanks, drums, pits oil-water separators or reservoirs. All waste oils and sludges, contaminated waters, glycols, fuel oils, cutting oils or regulated wash waters are manifested and treated in accordance with all Federal, State and Local Regulations. Hazardous materials can be drummed for proper transport and removal as required. Where necessary, we provide professional sampling and analysis for waste characterization to keep you and your company in compliance with today's regulations.
Solid Waste / Drum Supply and Removal
AB Environmental has the experience, knowledge and equipment to properly and efficiently handle all of your regulated solid waste streams. We can supply the correct specification steel 55-gallon drums for collection, transport and disposal of any regulated solid waste. This could include used oil filters, contaminated soil, oily rags or debris, tank bottom sludge or any hazardous waste. For large scale or restricted access solids removal jobs, we have Vactor trucks to go where no excavator can. Fuel Oil Tank Cleaning / Removal
AB Environmental Operators and Technicians are all fully trained (OSHA Hazwoper / Confined Space Entry) and experienced in various types of tank cleaning. We can simply bottom-pump water and sludge from residential or commercial fuel oil tanks or a more thorough cleaning by cutting and squeezing out the sediment of your fuel oil tanks. Our trained technicians will safely enter large tanks or vaults to effectively clean interior tank surfaces for testing, abandonment or maintenance. All proper safety protocol is strictly adhered to.
Oil-Water Separator Cleaning / Maintenance
Every business or industry that generates oily water or run-off which drains into troughs or floor drains, is required to have a waste interceptor or oil-water separator (OWS) system in place. This apparatus is designed to effectively separate and contain oils from the liquids passing through it so that only clean water is discharged into the sewer or septic system. A malfunctioning oil-water separator can lead to serious environmental problems. Regulations in Nassau and Suffolk counties now require these businesses to provide proof of maintenance of OWS systems twice each year.

Mold Abatement
Molds are simple, microscopic fungi found almost everywhere and can grow on virtually any organic substance as long as moisture and oxygen are present. There are molds that grow on carpets, wallboard, insulation, wet building materials, wood, clothes and many foods. AB Environmental recognizes that mold contamination problems have become a nationwide problem. Rising insurance claims, critical health issues and escalating legal settlements have all brought attention to this potential menace.
AB Environmental approaches a potential mold problem in the same manner as any of its other indoor air quality projects by first investigating the environment where the problem was identified and performing or arranging for the appropriate tests. Once a mold contamination problem is identified, an appropriate action plan is developed to abate the contaminated area while protecting the areas surrounding the contaminated area from cross-contamination. Each action plan generally begins by placing the contaminated area under negative pressure using high powered, high efficiency particulate air filtered (HEPA) units and 6-mil fire retardant poly sheeting, and other equipment necessary to create critical barriers to seal all openings, vents and other penetrations into or from the contaminated area. Once the containment is in place, the abatement and decontamination process begins by removing and disposing of all unsalvageable porous items, mold contaminated sheet rock, wood, insulation materials and other contaminated building materials or items. Next, all vertical and horizontal surfaces and non-porous items within the containment are vacuumed using HEPA filtered vacuum units and disinfected using an EPA approved anti-microbial disinfectant.
Additional steps may include encapsulating any wood beams or framing material or non contaminated fiberglass insulation with an EPA approved microbial encapsulant. Finally, the entire containment area is fogged with an EPA approved microbial disinfectant. Upon completion of the abatement and decontamination process, further testing and sampling is performed and a final report of our findings, data and recommendations is provided for each project.
Contaminated Soil
When the ground in our area becomes contaminated with petroleum or other hazardous or industrial wastes as a result of a spill or negligence, it can adversely impact the ground water table. This poses a serious ongoing threat to the health and well-being of many residents in the community as well as wildlife and the region's eco-system. AB Environmental is committed to effective and thorough remediation of this type of contamination. We have the capabilities to test, delineate and excavate contaminated soil from basements, dry wells, tanks / vaults or open areas. From one drum to one thousand cubic yards, AB Environmental can handle removal, transport and disposal at a price that you can handle.
Monitoring Wells
If petroleum contamination reaches groundwater, sophisticated measures must be taken to preserve the precious water table in our area. Facility
Since 1995, AB Environmental has owned and operated a New York State, D.E.C. permitted, part 360, interim storage facility.
The features of this facility include the ability to accept contaminated, non-hazardous materials, such as soils and liquids in
drum, tanker, or roll-off containers. These materials may be received by AB Environmental personnel, or brought in from outside vendors.
The use of this interim storage facility allows AB Environmental the capacity to temporarily bulk up specific materials for subsequent disposal in larger quantities. This practice results in lower transportation and disposal costs to you, the customer.
Since its inception, this facility has a proven track record. Its reputation among the various governmental agencies is held in high regard and it has operated effectively and free of violations for over ten years. This facility is also managed through the use of our computerized waste tracking system. This system ensures the documentation of every shipment received or shipped and stores the information in the clients history file for future referral if needed.
